Allergy Choices

We now offer a fantastic alternative for allergy sufferers: sublingual allergy drops instead of injections! As always, we can test you for allergies using subcutaneous testing, or we can now determine your allergy treatment needs with a simple blood test instead. This includes inhalant allergies as well as food allergies, both of which can then be treated with sublingual drops.

Partnering with allergy choices has allowed us to expand our services and provide this unique opportunity for our patients. Also, current allergy patients can reorder their sublingual serum via fax, e-mail or snail mail, and these drops can now be shipped directly. (No need to come to the office to pick them up.) **Click here for reorder form**

Questions and Answers allergy testing and treatment

Q: What is an allergy?
A: Allergies occur when the body's immune system attacks something it doesn't need
to, such as pollen. Allergies occur in an immune system that is not functioning properly:
either because of nutritional mineral defficiencies and/or a buildup of toxic metals and
other man-made pollutants.

Q: How can allergies be eliminated?
A: Proper immune function can be restored by supplementing deficient minerals, by
removing toxins, and by desensitizing the immune system to specific allergens. The
"desensitization" process involves introducing the body's immune system to tiny
amounts of what is triggering the allergic reaction, then gradually increasing those
amounts until the immune system learns to "ignore" these particular substances. These
tiny amounts of allergens can be introduced to the body by injecting them beneath the
skin, or by allowing them to absorb through the mucosal tissue under the tongue, which
is AIM's preferred method.

Q: Who is a candidate for Sublingual Allergy treatment?
A: Anyone with inhalent or food allergies. If you have already been diagnosed and are
being treated with injections, we can easily convert your treatment to sublingual. If you
haven't yet been tested, testing will be required to determine what triggers your immune
response. Testing can be subcutaneous (under the skin) or done via a small blood
sample. Sublingual allergy desensitization is a great option for children, needle-phobic
adults, and those wishing to come off of their prescription or OTC allergy medications.

Q: Why is "SLIT" better?
A: Sublingual immuno-therapy is better for a number of reasons, one of which is that
the drops are taken three times per day, and desensitization to allergens oocurs much
faster than with weekly injections. Also, injections can also cause a localized reaction at
the injection site which can be uncomfortable, and in rare cases a dangerous immune
reaction not limited to the injection site. For this reason, injections require a visit to the
doctor for each treatment, but sublingual treatments do not. Also, sublingual desensiti-
zation has never caused the aforementioned dangerous allergic reaction, called ana-
phylaxis.
